GENERAL ASSEMBLY AFFILIATION WITH THE UNITED NATIONS
March, 1997, Peaceways
became associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information
with the commitment that it will raise public awareness about the activities
of the United Nations.
February 1999 The
Young General Assembly was endorsed by UNESCO.
July 2000,
Peaceways was granted Special Consultative status with the Economic
and Social Council of the United Nations. It may send official representatives
to United Nations meetings, and in some cases, submit written statements.
October 2002, Peaceways-Young General Assembly received consultative
status with UNICEF. It may have representatives attend and send
statements to UNICEF Executive Board meetings.
